LS/VTEC GE Dowel Pin issues
Ok so I'm about to drop the VTEC head and I'm thnking cake.
But then I put on the OEM headgasket...and #$#$@@$%!!~! the hole is too small?!?!
WTF!
Is this normal? Do I have to get the wg hole enlarged now? Damn it! GE said no drilling.

Did you buy the complete GE kit, or just the dowels? I bought the kit (not installed yet) -- it may be that the gasket that GE sells has been modified to work with the dowels.

So how do i enlarge the holes? Just drill? Seems like it may offset the gasket
Also, I was just looking at the c-speed picture and they say to relocate the dowels to the outer holes on the intake side. I don't think that works. Mine line up with the thick part up on the outer holes, exhaust side. Is this right?

im pretty sure the stepped dowels are for that reason, so that you can put them in the right locations.
the hg. should be bored to fit the big part of the dowels

No kit. I just got the dowels by themselves and an OEM hg. We have a local deal on OEM parts. The GE HG costs ~$85 and local OEM is ~$65. They should say that you can't use a stock (or Cometic either) HG with these so that it would justify the extra $$ to buy their hg. They should not advertise this as the "no drill solution".
hmm i was just wondering the about the same thing, so you do have to drill out the headgasket right? i thought it was a non-drill type of thing, im doing a 20 right now and ill be pretty pissed off if i have to drill, mind as well go with the OG set up instead of wasting 20 bucks on another set of pins....let me know
I have done 5 ls/vtecs and on the ones we used those type of dowel pins i had to use a cometic head gasket because the wholes are inlarged for the dowwl pins.I never like drilling the holes on a oem or any head gasket, because the wrong move and u can mess the head gasket up or cut your damn head apart. But every time i have used or have seen somebody use those dowel pins u can't use the oem head gaskets unless the holes have been enlarged.

Never received any PM, and I check them everyday. Anyways, when we say NO DRILL, that measn that there is nothing to drill on the block or head. The gasket, unless you buy the kit or a gasket from us, is up to you. There is nothing we can do about that except to offer a gasket that has the dowels pre-enlarged for LS/VTEC! So we did just that. Sorry for the confusion, hope everything works out for you

yea i had to drill it out a little bit, but i didnt use a drill i used a diamond tipped sand bit, alot easier and wont damage the gasket or skin! good luck!
