Default Lowering my compression...

I need to get my compression down for cheap, so i figured a head gasket was the bets way, but what is the thickness i need to get it down to 8.5? and if thats not even possibly with JUST a head gasket, then whats the closest ic an get it, adn how thick for that?

...or...should i just get a d16a6 head gasket, that engine has a comp ratio of 9.1....so vent your knowledge here!

thanks for your time guys

~Mike

...oh yes! and i have a d16y8...and i want more boost! lol

whats the compression now? A inline headgasket (3mm) will drop one full point. Hope that helps.

Without changing your Pistons, It will be real hard you get it down that much. Why do you want it that low?

No, If you have enough Fuel, tuning, and do not go past your limit, you are set. Lower the compression is basicly for safety. Coming from someone that has seen a STOCK GSXR 1000 (12:1 CR) be turbo'ed at 9psi of boost and make 211 rwhp. It is all about tuning and enough fuel and strengh to hold it. Now, if he wants to put a crazy set-up on his car, then maybe, but tuning is the key in everything.

I hav ea d16y8 and i want to boost more with my td04 greddy kit with a front mount intercooler, and a apex'i vafc dyno tuned with 370cc injectors....so a 3mm should bring it down from 9.6 (stock compression ratio) to 8.6? if thats so, that'd be my best bet.

I would keep the stock compression 9.6:1 is very good for turbo. Just do a few bolt ons. for example intake manifold, throtle body, no cat, free flowing exhaust, cam gear, etc and see what you can get out the stock bottom end
