I have a 95 LS with a GSR swap. I've had the swap for over 2 years with absolutely no internal work ever done. Recently I did a timing belt, water pump, and cam gear install and ever since my car loses power up top. Could be a coincidence. I took my car to a shop here (Inline) and they have tried to diagnose the entire day what is going on. I had a VAFC which was stolen and the wiring for the VAFC was never repaired right (harness was never removed). A friend of mine just rewired it so I could drive the car but the wiring had some loose connections. First thing Inline Pro did was work on the VAFC wiring. After, the check engine lights which were giving codes (3(map sensor) & 22(vtec pressure)) were gone, but still when the car was driven there was no power up top in vtec. Inline reported it has borderline oil pressure. Still within spec be lower than expected. I haven't seen the numbers though.

My oil light comes on and goes up after about 5 seconds so the shop's diagnosis of the engine revealed low oil pressure. They came to the conclusion that the bearings are bad. They said this is rare on a fairly new (2000) Honda motor but that seems to be the case. My car is only making 100 hp to the wheels as they dynoed it. I have the option of building up the bottom end to 2.0 L, or just removing parts and putting new parts back in, or putting a new motor. All of these options won't be less than $2500. I'm a little shocked right now...

Any advice on what to do would help...

 

take it apart and see how it looks inside, then go from there; maybe sleeve with stock stroke; yummy
