LMA???
How do i tell if my LMA needs to be replaced? is there a way to inspect them? My cars been ticking since i got my swap two yrs ago. ticks from 2500-3800 RPM geting louder as i accelerate and then goes away after 380o RPM. I've done many valve adjustments also.
LMA = Lost Motion Assembly.
I'm uncertain of their function but I believe it has something to do with the vtec head assembly, as Non-vtec engines don't got em....
Maybe someone more knowledgable on the subject can shed some light.....

Are you hearing the noise from inside the car while you are driving?
If so I don't hink it ould be the LMA's unless you have narowed the noise down to with in the head assembly.
Then it could be a few things but check the valve lash first.

i hear the noise when im inside the car but could hear it from outside if i was outside. It is also definately coming from the head, im almost 99% sure. right on top of the valve cover basically. How do i find out for sure. how much does it cost to replace it?

How many miles on the engine? Has there been anything done ot it?
No way to bee 100% sure till you pop off that valve cover.
Does it sound like it would if you needed to adjust the vlaves?

IT sounds like your LMA's to me, take yer cam cover off and see ho easily you can press the VTEC Rocker arm down, if it's easy they're knackered.
Your best bet is late, post '96 GSR ones as they are the same as ITR/CTR.
Also I'm pretty certain you can use H22a ones.
I've just put new Post '96 GSR LMA's in my B16a all motor car and they cut out the noise completley.
As for what they do, when you're not in VTEC they prevent the VTEC rocker arms from rattling around in the Valve train, they have nothing to do with VTEC engagement.
