Default lack of vtec when hot?

my type r has been running a little hot lately (the temp is above the half way point) and it seems that when i get into an open road and push the car the vtec does not kick in. anyone else have this problem, or have any idea whats going on? thanks

how far is the temp up past the half way point? also does the vtec open up and make noise but not pull or does it just do nothing and make no noise? i am having the same problem my vtec on fully built gsr makes a hell lot of power and makes no power on the dyno in vtec.

change your oil, it may be getting to thin with the heat. not building enough pressure....maybe

What he said.. but if you're almost overheating you have more important problems!

thanks, thats obvious, but i was wondering if the functionality of the vtec is affected, since vtec works on speed, oil pressure, and vehicle temp.

how bout that coolant some times it's the real obvious things. with it running that hot do you have any type of smoke, but with such a high comp. beast it is probally just the oil getting thin like what they said

nah, there is no smoke coming from the engine. it only does it after the car is running for a while and really starts to heat up. in the morning or at night it runs like it should.
