Default JDM Transmission

Help............

Question 1...... I recently purchased a transmission to mate with my B20B engine. After checking the VIN number I have dicovered that it is actually a JDM 99 Integra GS Hatchback. What I wanted was a 94+ GS-R transmission. Is this an acceptable substitution or should I ask for the GSR?

I'm not really up on the differences between the trannys. I'm going with a GSR tranny because of similar advice from many different sources. The LS Integra tranny doesn't offer the same pull as the GSR. I'm installing it in a 95 Civic Hatch.

Question 2....... Does anyone know where to find a complete list of parts for a turboed B20B swap into a Civic. I just want to make sure I've got everything before I start.

Thanks, B50

What is the tranny code? (located on the tranny somewhere)

Find out and look it up on this chart http://www.allmotorhonda.com/techpag...anny_specs.htm

You'll want a type R tranny, Del sol VTEC/99+Si or a GSR in that order... If your gonna eventually run big boost you should stick with the GSR it's a nice medium...

After an exhausting search for a generic tranny code (ex. Y21, S80, Y80, etc.) I still came up empty. The guys in the salvage yard have the whole unit covered in grey paint. The only tag I can find is on the bell housing and reads JH4DC4374XS800841 . I checked my service manual to see where the stamp typically appears. The manual said it should be tagged somewhere around the starting motor or on the "Bell Housing". I was gonna strip the salvage yard paint job and restore the original look anyway. However I didn't want to do it until I was sure I had the right transmission (it would be a shame to waist the time and paint stripper only to have to do it again). Looks like I'm gonna have to do do it unless someone can identify the tranny for me from the number above.

Katman...thats why you have to put a fake spec in there somewhere and copywrite it. Then you can totaly mess with them.

I think you have an LS transmission. See the "DC4" in that VIN number? thats a 94-01 LS integra US chassis code.

I originally searched for the info on your page... but I was trying to check tiiite.ghettoracer.com. OOPS!

I remebered seeing it ripped off on that other page... I didn't mean to be contributing to the "Rip Off Katman" band wagon.

BTW... Is the tranny Hydraulic or Cable clutch? Honestly, I would never buy a tranny from a JDM imported unless I could witness the motor it was being removed from. I've had many friends that were screwed over with no compensation by the importer at all... Namely "Japan Auto Parts" in Toronto, bunch of scammers.

Wheemer,

Its definatly a Hydro tranny......... I don't know where my local supplier got it from. I told him what I wanted, and "poof" it was here. The guy I'm dealing with here is an honest sort of guy and has been very helpful with sourcing the parts for the swap. He's already told me that if anything is wrong with any part (ex; damage, wrong part, etc.) to bring it back anytime and he'll make it right up until I put the car on the road. Then I've got a six month operational warranty. He's even taken back parts that I ordered incorrectly. Can't ask for much better than that seeing as the car won't be out of the garage until May of next year. Its all a learning curve over here anyway. If you ask the suppliers for anything to do with Chevs or Fords they got you covered. I suspect that it will be that way with Hondas / Imports within a year or so. The Import scene is really just starting so everyone from the suppliers to the guys doing the mods are working togeather to learn as much, as fast as possible.

Thanks,

B50
