jdm motors allowed in california?
I have a jspec h22 in my 92 cx. I am going to california to register it. Will i be able to have a jdm motor in california?

Yes, you can. but 2 rules that I know for sure, there may be others....the motor must be the same year or newer than the chassis, and it must pass smog. and smog over there is a bitch. Good luck and hopefully other cali guys can give you all the info.

Thanks bro, yeah im thinking if i should just go with my stock cx motor, and then come back to washington and swap in my h22.

JDM is no-no in California...
You can have a USDM CALIFORNIA engine.. but like in the previous post it must be the same age or newer as thas chassis its going into.
Then you have to take it to the Smog ref and get it approved

well the ecu has to be usdm and the intake manifold has to be usdm and also the headers has to be usdm the stock piping and the exhaust to. Most important thing is to have all the smog stuff hooked of. then you have to take it to a ref that will smog and look at the motor and will tell you what needs to be upgraded or it is good that way.
That is the thing with jdm motors you have to change alot of stuff for it to be in any car legit.

yea in order to smog it, you need to run the USDM ecu for sure, like stated above, but i forget what else you would need. Not so sure about the exhaust setup though, I dont think that matters as long as your cat works, I could be wrong
