integra coil problem
i'm sooooo frustrated!!!!!
i've replaced my coil in my teg 2 times in the last 3 months already, and am going to replace it again cuz it just died today
i'm banging my head on the wall :bang: :bang: :bang:
trying to figure out what is causing the coil to go bad like this.
i've put a new distributor in, a new cap and rotor, and new spark plugs. i measured the resistance in my plug wires and they are all within specs.
i'm back to running stock ecu program... been running it for about a month now.
i cant for the life of me figure it out,,
please if you have any idea or input, dont hesitate to let me know.
thanks

A friend of mine has a 91 Teg and it did the same thing. To this day he still replaces everything. I'm not sure about the problem. Do the teeth strip out inside the distributor?
the problem is this:
i have had to replace my coil 3 tiems in the last 3 months
i've replaced the cap, rotor, and even bought a new distributor (minus coil and ignitor, which i supplied), and i also replaced the spark plugs, and i checked the resistance in my plug wires and they are within factory specs (they are factory wires, Sumitomos)
what could make my coil keep going bad?

Speedz I understand that the coil is having to be replaced more than once in a month, which is kind of unusual. But what I am asking is, what symptoms is the car showing that moves you to replace the coil?
have u replaced the ignitor(sp?) too>?
a honda mechanic told me to replace both the coil and ignitor as it will cause the other to go bad if not both replaced.

well the last 2 times i've had to replace the coil, basically the car was idling, then it just died. and wouldnt start again. i tested for spark, and none.. so i pulled coil and measured resistance across +/- terninals and they're ok, then across + to secondary and resistance jumped above 19k ohms to about 25k ohms.. out of spec according to helms.. and since i'm not getting any spark, and coil is outta spec, i gotta replace coil.
i've decided to try another angle at fixing the problem.
everyone i've talked to cant figure out what could be the problem.
i just ordered the MSD distributor cap and MSD SS blaster coil.
and hopefully will solve my problem, but even if the SS coil goes bad (God forbid).. it costs $40 apposed to the $90 i'd pay for a new OEM coil.
i need to talk to a honda technician tho.. maybe the ignitor is bad?.. i'll test it once i get a good coil in (luckily my wife's accord has the same coil so i'll use it to test the ignitor)
