Default Integra Automatic Transmission Slipping Question

I have a 90 Integra GS with 135,000 miles on an auto tranny that started having a weird problem. When Its first started (cold) I can put it in drive and it functions as normal. When it warms up to operating temperature It suddenly drops out like the car is in neutral (slipping). Now if I cut the car completely off and start it up again after a short while it runs again and the cycle repeats. I talked to someone and they said what might be happening is the screen gets clogged with trash when it warms up preventing flowand and when I cut it off it settles. Is there a remedy for this short of a new tranny? Can this type of trannny be flushed? any additives help? anyone experienced this before? What was your resolution?Any help will be appreciated. P.S. I bought this car and didnt know it had this problem

I had the same problem; flushing won't help at all.

It's time for a rebuild or MT swap.

LOL Thanks Rabbit9, I was hoping not to hear that answer. Curious though, how many miles did you have on yours when this happened, and what was the true cause?

I used to see that alot on Accords. It turned out to be the lockup clutch lining in the torque converter breaking apart. The only way I know to repair them is to replace the converter, and dissasemble the trans to clean it.

The odometer was right around 190K. It probably would have lasted awhile longer, but I started rebuilding everything on the car and added more HP/TQ.

yeah happened with lots of accords, clogged the filter and f'ed everything up. Easy fix if you know what you're doing, and i know honda put an extended warranty on the accord trannies that did that, so i would go look up that info
