Default installed new clutch

just finished installing my new exedy racing clutch on my si, and what a pain in the *** that was. just wondering but when I press the clutch in it goes for what feels like 1/4 the way down with almost no resistance, then the rest of the way it feels noticeable stiffer than the stock one. And also it feels like the pedal travel where the clutch grabs is less than the stock. does this sound about normal? thanks for any replies.

Sounds like you need to bleed it some more. Just my 2 cents.

Stiffer springs in the pressure plate = more pedal pressure! Even on hydro cars! Try putting that in a cable tranny and then feel the differnce! You will have one abnormally large left leg like i have!

ok looking around at other places it seems that bleeding the clutch might be the fix, but anyone have any advice on this as in what fluid to use and do I pump the pedal just like when bleeding the brakes? as always thanks for any helpful replies.

you use brake fluid. attach hose to slave cylinder and put into a 12oz coke bottle with a little bit of brake fluid in it, loosen bleeder screw a little and pump and Just like bleeding the brakes, just keep pumping and pumping the clutch until no bubbles come out in the coke bottle.

Make sure you watch the level of the fluid in the Master Cylinder or you will pump more air into system.
