Ignition Breakdown
OK, maybe someone can give me some ideas. A week ago, out of the blue, my car started running like crap. Backfiring, sputtering, stalling, surging, yada yada yada. Well, I yanked the plugs, to see the electrodes eaten away pretty bad. I threw in a new set of plugs, and the problem seemed to go away. However, the car is still trying to die at idle. The RPM's will dip very low. The car still does not "feel" right either. It seems to be running fine, but I can tell that it is not. I am thinking that I am havin some sort of ignition problem mainly becuase of the horrible shape of the last plugs, and the fact that it just happened while driving. It was running great, and then bang.
The motor is a 97 H22A4. The ignition upgrades consist of MSD 6A, Crane Cams PS91 Coil, and Vitek wires. I am thinking about replaceing the coil and wires, since these are relatively cheap, just to see if it improves at all.
If any of you have had a problem like this, let me know. Even if it was not related to the ignition, let me know what it was.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Ignition Breakdown (sohc_boy)
I would like to blame it on your wires, go for magnecor KV85 wires insted of vitek; they are more fashion then function.
sohc_boy had a good idea, bypass your MSD 6A box and run car, see if that is the problem.

Re: Ignition Breakdown (prsi)
Thanks guys. I am going to try to change out the wires. Hopefully I can find a set of Magnacore somewhere. If that does not work, I will bypass the ignition. I sure hope it ain't that because I have already had a Crane go out on me! Hopefully it is just the wires or the coil. The dist and cap are all about a year old. I bought them new when I bought my motor.
As for the plugs, I went back to stock just for the time being. I will be changing back to a colder plug once I figure out what the hell is wrong with this car!
Thanks again guys.
