Idle Problem... NEED HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a 1998 Acura Integra LS 5-Speed and i have the notorious bobbing idle. Its revs all by itself and idles high @ about 1,000 rpm's. I have read some posts on here saying it is the Fast Idle Valve... but my car doesn't have one. I belive they are only equiped on automatics. I ran a diagosis on it and came up with the code P0505 which is IAC (Idle air control) Valve system fault. I unlpugged the IAC valve and the idle dropped like its supposed to. I checked all the electrical connections on the manifold and throttle body and all have power... there is a hole inside the throttle body that when you cover it up its supposed to idle perfect. when i cover mone up it idles at about 200 RPM's!!!! there is only one hole and thats at the top not at the bottom where the FIV usually is... can somebody help me out???????????????????????
I have a 64 Acura GSR 5 speed. It has a IAC and a Fast Idle Control Valve also. The problem can be a few things. The IAC valve can be no good.....it can be cleaned sometimes ....if the wax plunger is still good, it might do the trick. The Fast Idle Control Valve can be no good. According to the manual there should be air flow from that hole in the throttle body. If I understand it correctly there shouldn't be suction when the car is warmed up (cooling fan has cycled on).....hmmmm??? Also a Acura tech on here told me that there is a cap that sometimes comes loose and that that might be the problem also. Also sometimes air in the cooling system will cause the surging idle. Bleed the cooling system......I'm not sure i have corrected the problem....I do know that after my car is warmed up it idles smooooth......I'll let you know more if I find out something new.......
