i have a question how do u know if your iac is dead because when u start my car the rpm just go to 2000 and stay there we have try everything. help pz

Sounds like a vacumm leak. If the IAC is dead it can cause that, however more likely the engine will have problems staying alive.

did you unplug it? if so did the idle go down? Is the cable to tight? can of carb cleaner to check for vac leaks

If the motor is warmed up and the idle just sticks at 2k rpm, I'd look at the throttle cable too (or the throttle plate stop screw being way out of adjustment and holding open the throttle plate more than it should).

There should be some little holes in the throttle body by the butterfly - try plugging them with your finger and see how it idles

If your RPMs bounce around a bit (2k-whatever) make sue the IAv is properly plug in by checking the color code. It may be the throotle bable that needs re-alignment, or It could be that the throttle body is open a bit: adjust 2 screws 1) at the top, w a flat head screw driver 2) twourds the botttom where throttle cable mounts on, you wil need a small alan key, and a 8mm i think.... check it out good luck
