I need some help on B20vtec?
I need a good web site or information on how to do this. i want to build a b20 block for FI I just don't know to much about the conversion. I have a B16 in my car now I just need to know how to do the rest. I will purchase the block as soon as possible so if I could get any information I would appriciate it.
also what things wil be needed. like timming belt alt. belt. what should I upgrade to make this a safe motor for high boost around 18 lbs.
well give it to me tech peeps

search parameters include Frankenstein, CRV, CRVTEC, B20VTEC B20B, B20Z, boost, turbo...
also try:
www.google.com using the above terms...
there hasnt been heaps here on boosted B20 conversions, but im sure its been done with great success...

crvtec.com, c-speedracing.com. those are only 2 sites off the top of my head, and oh yes, of course, hybrid.honda-perf.org
on the same note, a few of my friends have been encouraging me to get the b20b over the z, how so? i don't wanna bother them right now, casue we're having conflicts. thanx techies.

if you going to replace stuff, the blocks are the same...
The most important work needs to be done to the head. As for parts, i would use obd2 gsr or itr oil pump, they have better volume flow. Same goes for water pump and T belt for that matter. If you use dohc vtec pumps you need dohc belt, with nonvtec pumps, non vtec belt.
Not only is b20b lower compression, but at higher rpm, there can be valve conflict with b20z and vtec valves. Some jdm b20b's are high compression. Also consider increasing fuel pressure a few psi. If you want to boost 18psi I would get new pistons and engine management. I think 18 is a lot for a stock block. Plus then you can boost 25.

if i plan to boost, i don't think i'll boost more than 15, that's just me. thanx kinesis, and techies. and you also mentioned, "some b20b's are high compression"? for what instance?
"some b20b's are high compression"?
the jdm b20b is the same as the usdm b20z which is they both have 9.6:1 compression
for what instance?

thanks for the help guys
another question??? what is the estimated power a b20b with B16 head and low compression going to make, I am talking motor only 9.0 CR and B16 head before being boosted. Is the block really strong enough for that much boost, and yes I am planning on going with an autronic standalone.
thanks for the help guys

All the JDM B20Bs are 9.6:1 compression. I've checked
JDM B20B's piston head is more flatter, just like its USDM B20Z brother.
The USDM B20B, the piston head curves more.

have you seen them? what stamp is on the JDM B20B pistons?
thanks!

how do you tell which JDM B20B's are 9.6:1 CR?
i have have only seen usdm b20b pistons. not sure of the stamp for these off the top of my head, but they have a "dish" shape to them kinda like a cereal bowl that is why i ditched them in the beginning
my JDM B20B (head stamp 96) has p3f pistons...
ie low compression
and they are about 1mm dished - like Jeff says...
"i think only 98+ JDM B20B's have high compression pistons..."
