Default hydrolocked?!

ok, i was drivin back frm somewhere , on my way there were all these cars tryna merge left and into intersection so to avoid an accident i went to the far left lane and bam engine cut off as i was sittin in a foot n half of water..cut the engine and pushed the car too high ground...tried crankin it a cpl times but it wouldnt. took of aem cai and it was full of water . so i waited a lil longer and the cranked it again to no avail. 5 mins later tried crankn it again and it was real weak startup so i gave it some gas and it picked up rpms. there was white smoke coming out of the exhaust and i was stranded so i drove it home, 5 mins away. the smoking seems to have stoped and car seems to run normal under those rpms....question is did i do any bad damage to it. twice when i tried crankn it it made this loud grinding noise and then stoped. the cars in the garage and i dont even wanna touch it...do i still got a hydrolock problem if the car can start? plz help

not to be the bearer of bad news, but your engine is fucked. This is what you do... install your STOCK intake back in and call your insurance and say you were driving and it was raining and when you hit a puddle your motor locked up. play dumb with the insurance, your insurance should cover a new motor. this happened to my friend and his insurance covered a new gsr motor

Does the car run normal now? I'd do a compression test...anyhow same thing happened to me a lot time ago when I had a aem cai. I thought I hydrolocked but I think hitting that big *** puddle just splashed water onto some electronics like the alternator. Car wouldnt start right away but after a few minutes everything was good. Boosted the car a couple months later and its still pullin.

Depending on how many times you tried to crank it, you might be able to save your engine. Do what your freind said. Pull all the spark plugs out and pull the fuse which controls injectors. Once you done that, crank the engine about 5 different times and stand back. If there is water in the engine, the water will shoot of the spark plugs holes like ******* water geyser. When you notice that no more water is coming out, STOP Cranking. Put the plugs back in put the fuse back in a crank it up once. If it is atleast trying to crank up, go get some 2 cycle motor oil, dump that **** in the block and try it again. This method i have seen save a numerous peoples car injested water in there intake. If it doesnt work your fucked. Thats why they make Air by pass valves. If you want some more info send me a IM. Trust me this **** has the pontential to work. Good luck

make sure you check your oil for water. The water may have been pushed past your rings when the engine died and also when trying to start it. A lot of water could wipe a bearing out quickly.

I have heard of tweaking rods from hydrolocking and the motor would still run, so definatly compression test.

if the motor runs OK now, chances are you missed the bullet. Consider yourself lucky. But you're not out of the woods yet.

I'd pull all the plugs, and then drain the oil. I'm not talking your standard oil change either. Let it drain for about as long as you can, or all day if you have it. Then plug it back up, fill it with 2 quarts of worthless oil, and drain it again. Change the filter. Put in a new filter, and good oil. Replace your plugs with new ones at this point, and hopefully you're set. I would make sure the engine runs properly before beating on it, if it doesn't, do a compression test. If the compression comes up funny, remove your AEM, replace it with the stock air box, put some water in it, and call your insurance company. Thats the best advice I can give you. Good luck.

this is what I would do

1. change the oil 3 or 4 times within the next 500 miles
2. clean the fuel system and intake
3. check your drive line (incase you have cracked CV Boots)

best wayt to get the water out of a hydrolocked engine is to remove the plugs and cramk away....
