How does one drop a valve?
Pick it up and let it go. Har har. But seriously, a dropped valve has been described to me as a seat being worn until it doesn't seal correctly, a valve sticking open slightly, or the keepers/retainers **** the bed and the valve literally falls into the cylinder.

It is very rare that you break a valvespring in a honda engine under normal rpm ranges, though I remember seeing it happen once.
