How does a Fuel Pressure Gauge Work????
Ok I am getting a B&M fuel pressure regulator and I am also getting a in the car Fuel pressure gauge. My question is in order to have the gauge inside what do you to do in order to instasll it. Is it just wires connecting to one another or do I acctualy haver to run a fuel line inside. I am new to fuel parts of my car so any information would be great.
Be careful when installing fuel pressure gauges, if its mechanical then you might have to run a fuel hose through the gauge which'll be in your dash. So install it carefully and recheck a few times to make sure its not rubbing on anything sharp, or any loose connections. A fuel pressure regulator does what its name says, regulate fuel pressure. Be sure you know what your doing when tuning your fuel pressure.
Not all fuel pressure guages are under the hood. If you got the electrical autometer guage, it connects to a sender which needs to be involved with the fuel system. I just did this install and all I had to do was purchase some fittings that screwed right into the side of my fuel rail. The sender connects to that then to a module mounted inside the car and then to the actual guage. This way no fuel is actually running inside your car.
B&M FPG is designed for under the hood. Its not safe to have fuel line running in the cabin IMO. Other gauges are avail for in cabin use, but B&M is not.
The autometer fuel pressure gauge uses stainless steel lines and a special device that allows fuel into the car so that the guage can read it safely. It's a VERY expensive guage around 200 bux and safe. It was designed that way.
if your running a mechanical autometer fpg, you cant run it in the cabin. its illegal to run fuel inside the cabin. if you get an electrical one its ok, just my 2 cents
