Stupid autometer fuel pressure gauge!!!!! grrrrrr
Ok, I got the inline pump hooked back up... everything works fine except the autometer fuel pressure gauge! The damn thing doesn't read very accurate now.. it's stuck at like 75 sometimes drops to 25 (i thought i had a fuel pressure drop) and forget trying to adjust the fpr without it.. i turned it all the way in and no change in pressure...
That piece of crap...
I'm guessing that what I was told is true.. the inline pump being taped right after the fuel pressure gauge sucks the fuel away faster than the small fuel line going to the electronic sender than fill or stay filled... at least I can tell if I have a fuel pressure drop... but forget using it to tune my fuel pressure!
any suggestions on what I can do? perhaps hook up one under the hood somewhere?

Where exactly is the sender for the gauge? It has to be between the pump and fuel rail.

it's right at the filter ... hmmmm so it needs to be between the airtex and the fuel rail.. hmmmm i'll have to change that..

Dear god YES you need to move the pressure sensor; having it between two fuel pumps won't tell you anything at all!

thats where it's hooked up now... but that still puts it between the two pumps...
it will have to wait till i get back from colorado..

If youre using it just to tune the FP, just pick up a $30 B&M underhood guage. Pops right in on top of the fuel filter, and will work like a charm.

doesnt work that way...
intank fuel pump---------------------- gauge------------------------inline pump
it should be.....
intank pump---------------------------inline pump.............................gauge..

Or you could get a "T" to go along with the B&M Fuel Pressure Set. Have one side for the B&M gauge, and the other side of the "T" for the AM fp sender, setting on top of your fuel filter.

Re: Stupid autometer fuel pressure gauge!!!!! grrrrrr (GSRwBOOST)
Please, someone correct me if I am wrong, but I have always removed the in-tank fuel pump when installing one inline. To think of it logically, if you have a pump that will only support, say 190 ltr/hr, and you are installing one that is 255 ltr/hr. If you have the 190 before the 255, how can you increase psi without taxing both pumps? The 190 is trying to get the fuel the 255 is requesting, and vise-versa. Remove the in-tank, you will eventually fry both pumps if you keep them the way they are. Not unless they are the same size pumps that flow at the rate! Install the fuel pressure gauge after the pump, that way you will be getting the correct amount of pressure you are running. I agree with Nick, just use the B&M that goes over the fuel filter, very easy to install, is not expensive, and is accurate!

I think someone is missing the fact that his in-line pump is installed AFTER the filter, so any gauge that mounts TO the filter will be absolutely USELESS.
As far as multiple pumps goes, it's not really an issue until you exceed the maximum possible flow of the in-tank pump; the second pump ends up doing all the high-pressure part and as Hondata has shown us, the in-tank is good for plenty of volume as long as the pressure isn't too high. The systems will balance themselves, and it's not going to hurt either pump, but having both in place is also not strictly necessary.

Re: Stupid autometer fuel pressure gauge!!!!! grrrrrr (dbman96)
I had no idea he was using it after the filter or that he had upgraded his intank pump. If he would have kept his stock pump in the tank, then he would have been looking at some issues when he started raising his PSI, that was all I was trying to say. He is not going to get an accurate reading from having the gauge in the center of the pumps, all he is going to be reading is what the pump before is trying to give, and sometimes what the one after is trying to take. He could easily install the pump before the filter and use the B&M setup, but if he doesn't want to do that, then he just needs to tap in after the second pump! This is not a hard issue, and if you would have paid attention to the Hondata site, they were refering to just using a stock pump! The stock pump will go to 75 PSI, but it runs very lean and produces more heat, which is not very efficent for the car. That is why most stock pumps are removed when placing one inline, and that was all I was trying to help out with.

so the gauge is good? I need one and dont wanna get an autometer if its going to give me trouble like the oil gauge.

Re: Stupid autometer fuel pressure gauge!!!!! grrrrrr (quikrpm1)
I think the AEM fuel rail has a threaded area to accept a fuel pressure gauge that would be mounted after both of his fuel pumps and wouldn't require any modifying or fabricating.
