How do you remove a block?
Tomorow I want to try and get my block out so I can take it to the machine shop and find out how much it will cost to repair. I already knew the headgasket was shot so before I ever knew anything was wrong with the block the head was already off. I'm doing it in my driveway so I dont have a lot of tools and whatever.
All the accesories are already off. I dont need a step by step guide I just want some input on some short cuts and easy ways to remove it. Would it be possible for 2 people to do it or would it take an engine hoist? Can I leave the tranny in or would that need to come out to? Whatever input I can get will be great. Thank you.

yeah u should be able to do it w. 2 ppl...u need to take off the tranny though..take as much stuff of the block as u can like crank and nstuff..cuase its kinda heavy w. even 2 ppl..u need to have some spare tires or something to suppor the block when u take out the engine mounts..i used tires and flat wood and it works..i dont think theres any short cuts.. just unbolt everything u suppost to..
Ok are you trying to remove the engine from the engine bay or what? It would be easiest to take the entire engine out of the engine bay and then separate the tranny and then the head from the block. There are no short cuts! It only takes me about 3 hours to take out an engine. It could take an entire day to remove the tranny and head and label all parts so you don't loose them. If you want a shortcut, Label all your nuts and bolts and where they came from. Otherwise you will have a ******* problem later on. Good luck.
