How do you get the alternator out
So I'm changing my alternator but the beast won't come out. It's on a 99si. I've got it unbolted from the brackets, but I can't get it out of the engine bay. Has anyone done this?
You need to remove the strut tower bar. Unbolt wiring harness on the drivers side shock tower, and the powersteering line and push it out of the way. Once you get all the **** in that area out of the way, you can get the alternator out from the top.

Removing the axle is the correct way to do it. Of course I didn't realize this until I had it unbolted. I did this in my apt parking lot, and I thought I was in for a 30min job tops, couple bolts, couple plugs, seems easy enough. Took longer to get it out than it did to unbolt it. By clearing the area next to the shock tower, I was able to turn the alt sideways, and get it through the top. This was with the LS intake mani in a DC2. Is the B16A intake mani any wider than the LS? You could check clr with the new alt by placing it inbetween the tower and intake mani, if you can get it through, your home free.
