My girlfriend has a 97 civic Ex, how do you remove the alternator? I have the alternator disconnected from the engine, but I can't figure out how to get it out of the engine bay, since there's no room to work with. What else do I need to remove to get the alternator out?

I bet you're having a problem getting it out of the engine bay because the axle seems to be in the way. Well, instead of removing the axle, you can just remove the 2 bolts that bolt the alternator BRACKET on the block. With the alternator BRACKET removed, there is enough room to wiggle the alternator out of the engine bay through the bottom. If you've removed the 2 bolts off the alternator and it still seems like something is holding the alternator to the bracket, get a long screwdriver and put it somewhere on the alternator and lightly tap the screwdriver with a mallet and it will eventually pop out, thats when you need to removed the alternator bracket.
