How do you check it with the light... you plug to battery and cyc 1 and have car warm... etc etc but do you just turn the dail to 16 and then see where it is?? or do you turn it to 0 and see if it lines up with 0 tdc... help?

set the timing gun to zero, from there the red mark should line up with the pointer on the lower cover. if not adjust the distrubitor advance or retard to get the red mark to line up with the pointer.(it should be the middle red mark) that will be your BTDC 16 +/-

have u checked your timing belt? is it loose? if so im guessing it jumped a tooth...i have seen this on a couple cars where the tensioner needed to be tighted badly...and they never checked it...so when it jumped a tooth and they lost power then we figured it out....
oh and did u jump the service connector? there is a plug u gotta stick a paperclip or wire into to keep the ecu from correcting the timing....its a blue plug right above my ecu in my 2k civic si....
car must be fully warmed up....the manual i have says make sure all accessories are off...and wait till the radiator fans comes on then after it shuts off your good to check timing.....

then more then likely you need to remove your belt and realign your marks on the cam gear and crank pulley. to be 20-22 degrees shows that the belt jumped a one or two tooth off the pulley.

i have also had my inake(stock) cam put back in... soo the distributer.. could have been moved.. i have also replaced the cap and rotor.. would any of this have to do with the distributer being in the wrong place? or something.. or needing to be taken off and put back on
