Default How to adjust timing on a VTEC EF

Ok, i have a d15z1 in my EF, its a Vtec-e, LOL save the jokes, its not that bad.

but anyways, my timing is off, and i need to know what it is for that motor, i cant seem to find anything out. the mark is about a half inch from the pointers! so its slightly off, but i need to know what to do to change it?? i just moved the distributor over, is there a screw on it somehwere?? if so can you please post a pic of where?

thanks, yea im a newbie on timing!!

depending on what ECU you are using with the swapped engine, there will be a timing connector that you have to jumper together. once that is done, start the car, let it reach operating temperature (fan turns on and off atleast once). attach a timing light and point it at the crank pulley. loosen your distributor bolts. line up the sights on the timing cover with the middle mark on the crank pulley's 3 hash mark section. turning the distributor towards the firewall will advance the timing and move the three hash marks towards the firewall. moving the distributor forwards will retard the timing and move the hash marks forward. once the timing is set, lightly tighten down the distributor bolts with a 12mm wrench. (i say lightly tighten because they are WELL KNOWN to strip out with any tension at all... they dont have to hardly tight at all to hold.) once they are tightened down, double check to make sure the timing hasnt moved.

If you're all good, unplug the timing light, remove the jumper, and restart the vehicle and you're good to go

OK, well i pushed the dissy all the way to the firewall, as further as it could go, and the timing still is retarded!! hhahah, its still about a half inch away from the timing pointers

also i have a obd1 motor in my EF and im using the PM6 si computer, and HF distributor, i want to know where the jumper is, because i didnt remove that so maybe thats why it is like that???

is it above the right side kick panel????? the little blue plug with two wires on it?? after its warmed up do i put a wire between the two?

Also only the one bolt is lined up, since its a mini me. It was leaking oil from that area, but i put a new o ring on it and i think that was it.

also, i tried it once again, and still i couldnt go any further toward the firewall.

My top dead center must be off slightly,
Do i have to take the head off so that i can put it at tdc, and then make sure everything is aligned?? That must be it, unless you cant get a correct timing on a mini me
