Default HONDATA PROBLEMS

I did a search and nothing came up for my particular problem. I have the s200 system and it does not seem to want to work right. I had stock injectors in and the car ran alright being untuned it still had a choppy idle when cold but it ran good. I put a set of rc 310's in and it didn't like them at all the car shudder and hesitated bad. I put a p30 in and everything ran fine no hesitation no bad idle so I thought that I just needed to get it tuned. I brought the car to my tuner and he said he could not tune it because is data logger was acting weird with my car it would not data log properly. He put a p30 program in and corrected it for the p30, it still runs like crap even worse than before. Why is my car fine with the p30 but crap with a p30 program on hondata. Please help me try and figure this out.

you put an untuned hondata ecu in and you expcet it to run well?

dude take it to a tuner that knows what they are doing or leave the stock ecu in there.

the hondata base programs are not meant to be perfect.

Wouldn't a p30 program be the same as using a p30. Also my problem is that they can't tune it for some reason they have done lots of hondata's but they said there is a problem with my car i'm just trying to see if anyone has heard of a similar problem.

well its obviously not the same if its running like ***, right?

and if there really is a problem have your tuner contact hondata. or you contact them.

First of all what is the impedance of the injectors you put in your car? DO they require a resistor box? What is the part number on the injector (should be PL-310, or something like that...) Also, the car WILL I repeat WILL run like crap with different injectors with an untuned ECU. The ECU was on a base map before that that was untuned, and probably richer than normal because it was untuned... Now you throw MORE fuel at it and you expect it to run right... That might be some of your problem... I have also had problems with S200's in the past with loosing their maps and the ECU going into a limp home mode. Well, I usually just re-burn the BIN file to the ROM and everything is fine.

Now, on a side note, your tuner saying they can't tune your car because "something is messed up." That sounds like complete crap! If they are at all reputable then they should be able to "FIND" your problem and "FIX" it so that they can tune it. I'm not bashing your tuner necessarily, just making a suggestion that you may want to find another tuner. Hope this helps.

Later,

Sean C.

The impedance is fine it runs good with the p30 in it. I know it will run like crap when it is untuned but I can't get it tuned cause my tuner insists that there is something wrong with my car. I had a whole bunch of problems with it a while back where the light on the box was turning off for no reason, the shop couldn't tune it then cause when ever the light went out his computer would crash when he was data logging. I Finlay found the problem myself it was the plug wires they were making a lot of rf and cause the light to go out, I put OEM wires in a and problem solved light stayed on all the time. So I thought that it would be fine to get tuned but now they say that when they get the right a/f ratio the car sputters and cuts in and out of power almost like the injectors decide not to open for a couple of seconds. I'm going to call them tomorrow and get them to explain the problem better then I'll post what they said.

The p30 that I have is a friends, I'm building an engine for him but I'm putting it in today so I won't be able to use that ecu anymore. Thanks for all your input.

Well, you should just sell your whole hondata setup or send it back and get your money back and buy all of my hondata stuff!!! Well I don't know what to tell you, post what they have to say about your "problems" and I'll see if I can figure them out.

Do you even have a chip in the ecu right at the moment? You might open it up and look. I know this because I just installed my s200 a couple weeks ago, I had a stock P28, and a Hondata P28. I plugged in the Hondata S200 first, it didn't have a chip in it, and it run like complete horseshit. Then I switched to the stock p28 and it ran just dandy. Check that, let us know how it goes.
