Default hondata problem

i just bought a stage 2 and here is my problem. my vtec doesn't work, all solder connections are good because i am a NASA qualified solderer, anyways when i plugged in everything, the red light blinked once and then stayed steady...good right. i'm thinking i got a bad chip, but how could that be because the car runs, or does hondata not send out chips with vtec until you get it tuned. if your wondering i have a 00 si. all mods have been taken care of to asure that the hondata works. any help or info would be appreciated.

Just because the engine works doesn't mean the ECU is good.

You may need to redownload the software onto the chip.

could be a couple of things:

the dealer you bought it from maybe perhaps set the vtec too high (ie 8000)

or maybe they put an ls base map on it

What gives you the indication that VTEC isn't working?
