Default Hondata Chip install on P28 Help!!!!!!!!!!

Ok I just recieved my P28 from Hondata. I was socketted and sent back. Now I bought my S200 from wired speed lab. They sent my Blue box, wiring, and Chip to me today. As of right now I dont know which direction my chip goes into the ECU. And Do I have to go any sodering? Do I just need to take this s200 system to a Hondata Dealer and Have them hook it up so I can drive the car to have it tuned?

I don't know all of the specifics of the Hondata install, but if it is the 28 pin EPROM, the notch faces the connector end, just like the rest of the chips on the PCB.

Arrow generally means #1, which would go on the notched end

The arrow on the 29C256 chip points towards the ECU plugs.

I wouldn't put the chip in the socket yet unless you have a ZIF socket or if you plan on driving the car to the tuner with the S200 already installed. They'll need to install the ROMulator to tune the car, and if you install the chip, they'll need to take extra time to remove it if you don't have a ZIF socket.

I highly recommend getting a low-profile ZIF socket from moates.net to make it easier to swap the chips and ROMulator.

the chip has a notch at one end; that side points to the ecu main harness plugs

K@man,

Man you made a Very Outstanding DIY. I give you hella prop's on that write up. Thanks alot!

Now I have another question for everyone. I installed the chip and plug'd in the Blue box. My car isnt tuned yet. But here are the problems. When I reach a stop sign my car die's. I can tell its running rich because I smell gas. CEL light is on. And there is a RED light on in the Blue box. I have to drive 75 miles just to get to a Hondata Tuner. Am I safe to drive?

If you cut J1, the maps will revert to stock.. so see how they connected that jumper (J1). That would be your best bet (run it stock until you get to the dealer). Try to call the place you're going to get it tuned and see what they suggest.

you should find out what check engine light (mil) code your car is throwing to pinpoint the problem.

I will be checking the Codes for the CEL today. What does the Red light mean in the Blue box?
