Default Honda Diagnostic Tools

Hey there, I attempted to research this but I have had no luck. I am wondering if there is a diagnostic tool to read CEL lights and error codes via a program that would operate on a laptop or pc. I have a CEL that just popped up on my 1999 Honda Accord, and I wish to assess it myself but I am not sure what tools are out there for this. I apologize for sounding new, but I'm a former VW guy who is recently getting more and more into Hondas.

You don't need a Honda specific tool you just need an obd2 scantool. Basic code readers go for under $100 all the way up to thousands for something like a SnapOn modis. Places like Autozone or sears auto will scan obd2 codes for free if you won't be using a scantool enough to make the investment.

no need for a computer or any help.

jumper the service jumper, count the blinks, read the CEL post on here to determine what the code means. price, one paper clip and a few minutes to read about the problem.

I'm sorry for sound dumb, but what do you mean jump the service jumper? So I take a paper clip, stick it in there and watch for how many blinks it is?

Check out www.obdcom.com. It's exactly what you're looking for at $96. I tried it and it works.
