High idle until thermostat opens????????
92'cx hatch stock motor, idles alittle bit over 3000rpms until the thermostat opens then it drops down immediatly to about 700 and runs fine.how can i fix this?
sounds like a werid vacum line leek, replaced and cracked lines and see if that helps

I have a similar problem. When i first warm up my car, it idles at 2 and raise up to about 2.5 in about 1 min. Then when i drive it, it still idles alittle above 2. Heres the funny part, when i turn the car off and then on back again, it idles at 1. What seems to be the problem? Does it deal with the thermostat? If so, what and where is that located?
my car was idling abnormally high on cold starts... turned out to be a FITV problem. If this is the problem, then....
-unbolt the fitv from the intake manifold
-unbolt the end cover on the fitv
-you will now see a sorta brash colored piece of metal surrounded by a white plastic ring
-use a screwdriver (fat one) to turn this plastic ring clockwise) until it stops turning (doesn't need to be tightened down tight, just turn it till it stops)
That dropped my cold start idle down to what it should be, maybe actually a tad low, so mabe I tightened the ring a tad too much, but I'm not sure.
There is a tip about this on g2ic.com but the forums are down right now... otherwise I would link to it.

I was looking for the FIT Valve but i cant find it. Is it on the throttle body or on the intake manifold? The throttle body is a Edelbrock and the manifold is a Skunk2. Also, does the IAC need a gasket?

FITV is on the throttle body (same for all OEM TBs):

However I don't think the Edelbrock TB has a FITV so it would look something like this:

IACV does not use a gasket, it does have a "8" shaped o-ring though.

not nessicarily, that for the original post, all hondas have a high idle upon start up, this helps to warm up the car, the idle is not going to decrease until the thermostat opens, it might not be the problem, but just a little insight
Thanks man, i guess i dont have a FIT valve. Just a few more questions. Does the map sensor also just have a O-ring and no gasket? Last one, I bought a 1.8L 1996-01 Type R Integra Throttle Body Edelbrock for my b16a, do i need to replace that T.P.S. sensor with my stock one or should it be fine. I dont want it to be sending the wrong codes. Thanks again.
