Default Help decipher problem plzzz.. Tranny problem???

OK, the car is a 94 Eagle Summit, 4 cylinder, and a 5sp.

The problem is while the car is in motion, we hear grinding sounds and something apparently is locking up. It's not a constant grinding but comes on and off when in motion. It's gets so bad that even the car shakes sometimes.

My main question is... When I put the car in neutral and push the car and get it moving we hear a grinding/rubbing sound which slows the car down. Could this be the tranny? I thought, once you put the car in neutral, the tranny is not being used and so it must be something else. Am I wrong?

If it's not the tranny I'm suspecting the brakes are locking up but not sure.

you're probably having similar trouble to what i'm having right now: the tranny is not fully disenguaging when the clutch is pushed in. i took off the tranny tonight and checked the throwout bearing, but it looked fine. i threw some grease on it, put the tranny back on, and now i'm bleeding the clutch fluid and checking the towboard clearance and such. it's probably something dumb like you're low on clutch fluid or something.

hmm.. I think it's more than that. It sounds pretty harsh, like something is catching and grinding.

Any other suggestions?
