help: A/C repair
the low-pressure suction hose on my a/c is leaking and it needs to be replaced. is this any difficult to do? it looks like it just bolts on. also is there any special sealant i need? please help, damm mechanics were ripping me off in this install, ill rather do it myself. thanks.
On my a6 its damn simple, the hose unbolts from the firewall and then around the radiator. Just trace it to where the other end is. Then replace the 2 small o-gaskets and you should be set.
I've replaced an a/c line in my maxima before. If its anything similar then it is very easy to do. Just use a wrench and remove a couple nuts. Did you figure out the exact cause of the leak? Chances are its just a bad O-ring. You can spray soapy water on the connector and see if it bubbles if it's leaking bad. Also if you expose the drier by removing the line then the a/c will probably smell like mildew or fish. so you may want to replace that as well.
i just replaced the hose, it was pretty simple. i got a little scared when i took it off cuz there was still a little presure in the system, hehe. its all good now, now i just need to fill it with freon and im set for the summer. thanks guys
