my friend has an automatic 92 hatch.....he put in an automatic ls swap in it.....but the tranny isnt switching gears........what could be this problem?
Can someone please answer this question!! I have the same problem except when my car gets hot it only stays in second gear! Do any of you guys think its like a shift soloniod problem?

the motor was in my friends car and it shifted good....now we put it into this hatch and we have to shift it manually......it seems like it skips 3rd and starts at 2nd gear......

the trans control module needs to be wired in with your shifter/cluster/ecu. it's about 20-25 wires roughly from what i remember. if you could set up micro switches on every gear position, you could technically activate each gear manually/sequentially with no tcm needed. that would be more trouble then it would be worth and you wouldn't have the auto feature when you had to put up with traffic etc. consult the helms for wiring diagrams for the "tcm". what year is the auto trans?

in that year, i believe it's under the passenger seat or in the foot area under the carpet. if you can read wiring diagrams, run and connect lots of wire to proper locations, it's no problem...just takes a while and you might get a headache like i did. make sure you get the two tcm plugs and get as much of the wire as you can. if you can't find tcm clips, then two of the obd1 grey ecu plugs will work, but you'll have to repin each function which would be a pain in the @$$. i remember i used the clips from a older early 90's accord tcm and all the wires were there and colored correctly. i used the matching tcm for the year ecu/obd which was obd1 p75 auto. in this case, i would use obd1 ecu/tcms.
