Default Heated O2 Sensor Question

I was running an OEM Manifold on my B16a/CRX which used a one wire O2 sensor. I recently installed a header and had to extend the sensor wire to reach the O2 bung on the collector. Now my A/F meter doesn't react unless I'm driving 'spiritly'. I'm assuming it's because the temperature at the collector isn't warm enough to activate the sensor.

I'd like to install a heated O2 sensor but it has 4 wires. Can someone describe the use of each wire so I can connect it properly?

Thanks!

yes its because of heat.

take the 4wire, white to signal, stock 1 wire (wire)
either black and the green to ground, and other black to switched (ignition) power.
thats all.

Will a three wire work also? I've been told black to signal, both whites to +12v. Sensor is grounded by the header
