Default Headlight problem

OK, so yesterday my headlight bulb went out, or so I thought. I replaced
it with an extra one I had lying around but it still didn't work. today I
replaced the fuses under the dash but still no good. this isn't good, i
don't feel like gettin pulled over around here, the campus cops like to
pull kids over and give them ****. Any ideas, I guess I've got a short
somewhere but I have no idea where.
any help would be appreciated.
Evan
Oh, also tried a brand new bulb, that didn't work either. crap.

Check wire connections and verify they are not frayed.

Edit: Follow wires to whereever and verify no damage.

the headlight fuse is probably under the hood in the main fuse box.

yeah there's three fuses, one in the engine bay and two under the dash, all of which look ok. weird thing is that the high beams work fine. oh well, this car has been plagued by electrical probs ever since I bought it.
wish me luck
