The block will say H22A4

And the stamp on the cylinder head just above the exhaust ports will say P5P. P5P should also be just above the oil pan. And the oil filter will be like in the stupidest place ever

Hahahaha!! Yeah, I just luuuv changing my oil.

All 5th gen USDM H22's will be H22A4, but there's one sure way to tell the difference between SH and non-SH motors. On the extended engine code (i.e H22A4-xxxxxxxx) the second x digit will be a 5 if it's an SH, and a 0 if it's a Base model.

The tranny wont work out, the shafts are diffrent. You wont be able to use the ATTS (sh portion of the tranny) since you wont be able to use any of the sensors that it requires to operate (yaw, steering angle, tranny oil cooler, etc, etc). So you carrying arround about 45 extra pounds of metal that dosent do anything. In order to use a base tranny you have to modify the tranny to accept the diffrent bolt pattern to bolt to the engine. I dont think the diffrent location of the oil filter would be of factor but it does sit a bit higher (6 inches higher) than the base model. Just do yourself a favor and use a base model 5-spd. much easier and less hassle.
