Default gsr tranny problems

im debating what to do with my tansmission. something is messed up with 2nd gear and 3rd if i shift at high rpms. 2nd gear grinds almost all the time unless give it a lot of time going from 1st to 2nd. weird thing is it shifts perfectly first thing in the morning, or after its sat for a long time. does anyone have any ideas for what it could be? i dont know if i should look into having a friend rebuild it, he just did his saab tranny. or just go to a u-pull yard and try to find another used b tranny. any ideas?

Have checked your clutch? It could be your clutch that makes it hard to go in gear when its HOT. In the mornings its cold so no promblems right?

Haha...if your paying 300 plus parts, the shops gonna charge you 200 bucks per gear to fix. U might end up with a costly trany. Id look for a cheaper place to build your trany. Where are you located?

you really think this could just be the clutch? man, i would be relieved if the tranny didnt need rebuilding.

Definately synchros. Ive gone through this more times than I can count. Best thing to do is replace the tranny fluid more often. Only use honda or red line MTF. Then double clutch and/or rev match every shift. It will make you a better driver. I have a 93 Si beater that has had so much abuse the synchros on 2nd, 3rd, and 5th are completely gone, 4th gear is going down, and the 3rd/4th and 5th/rev shift forks are broken. Noone else I know can drive this car, but when I drive it I very rarely get a grind. The only time I ever use my clutch is when I first take off in first or once in while when I'm down shifting.

Or you could do it the right way and rebuilt it yourself, or pay someone 500 to 1500 to fix it.
