Tranny or clutch???
I just need some help figuring out if it is my tranny or my clutch going. Ok. 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th gear go in great but 3rd grinds every time.
Any help would be great. Thanks

Pretty sure it's ur tranny. Some people say it's the third gear synchro and a trusted tranny expert has told me that a bad 1-2 shift fork is often the case. Best way would be to open that sucker up and find out.
Just rebuild it, you can do it yourself in a few hours. A synchro from the dealer will probably run around $150. If you have the dealer do it they'll charge you a grip. Have fun

Just as a general observation:
If you're having trouble shifting into 1 gear, it's likely the trans (m/l synchro)
If you're having trouble shifting into ALL gears (suddenly) it's likely the clutch or clutch release system.

first off, have you tore apart the tranny to see if it is the synchro or just blaming it like everyone else???
Ever see a bad 3rd gear synchro in a D series tranny??????
I haven't, but have sold plenty.
NO ONE abuses a D tranny more than me.

Hey, what if your shifter won't go into 4th no more, there seem to be no slot for it anymore; just a wall that blocks 4th gear totally out.--Could this be a synchro too, or is it possibly the clutch gone bad?
