gsr crank or the stock ls crank for ls vtec????
somebody was telling me that if you put a gsr crank in an ls ctec set up that you can rev out safer and it would be not as hard on your motor? dont know if this is true?
thanks

I am running a GSR crank in an LS/VTEC setup.
It's pretty much an LS block with GSR crank/rods and girdle.
Problem with using this...you eliminate the whole purpose of LS/VTEC and getting the extra displacement with the longer stroke of the LS crank.
But...if you get the block resleeved for 85mm or so...then you pick up the same displacement (roughly) as using the longer stroke...and you have the revving potential of a GSR.
I did this only because the people supplying me with a block only had an LS block in stock to resleeve.
If this is the case with you...yes it can be done....personally I would just get a GSR block resleeved. It's just a better block. Has the oil squirters and block girdle already there. No need to have the LS block machined to fit the girdle.
Good luck.

If you can get the LS crank to work in the GS-R block, you would conceiveably have the best of both worlds (more displacement & more oiling)........but where, Oh where to get an LS crank??????........**hint**...-see my sig

I would go with the GSR block. Then you dont have to worry about tapping the oil line Etc.
"But...if you get the block resleeved for 85mm or so...then you pick up the same displacement (roughly) as using the longer stroke...and you have the revving potential of a GSR."
85mm is roughly a 2litre, an Ls block w/ the LS crank is still a 1.8, how is the displacement the same??
An Ls/Vtec is a cheaper way to get a 1.8, (cheaper than gsr)
