Default Golden Eagle head studs stripped help ideas!?

OK well I just got done reasembling my motor, one of my golden eagle head studs stripped. To be more specific i was torqueing it down in sequence and after i did like a 54ft lbs on the second step I went to torque them down to the finall 72ft lbs. and the nut stripped on the outside so im guessing this one is torqued down to like 60-70ft lbs and the rest are torqued down to spec, should i call them up and get a new nut sent and try to hammer on a like 12mm socket on there to take it off?? I am sure it`ll be fine sealing my head wise but what should i do to take it off?
Ryan

Your probably going to have to hammer a socket on there and take it off. Craftsman has a tool to remove bolt/nuts that a stripped but i'm not sure if that tool will fit into the hole. Its a good idea to get the right socket for the nuts.

Just be careful not to get metal shavings everywhere. Or chunks of nut/socket. Could turn into a mess later.
But yeah you should be able to remove that and install new one.

Did you back the nut off til it clicked then start tightening it to make sure the threads aren't stripped?

good luck getting replacement parts youll have to get a new set. Thats what they told me. They buy them prepackaged and cant break up a set. They said they would see if they could get me one stud from supplier but when i called back a few times nobody worked on it. I have 9 tenths of a set if you need it. Paypal me 25 and ill ship it if you cant get replacement parts from ge.

Im not knocking your parts at all it was definetly user error. I was just stating in the past it was quite hard to get replacement parts. I had a friend help me and i believe he used a ir thundergun to remove these obviously it would seem as if the nut would just come off but ive seen it done with arps also. Just crossthreads itself off because it has all that force and the gun isnt centered well cocked or something. THe quality of these parst is good and everything ge has sole me has been of the highest quality and very well finished. Ill give you a call.

P.S. They never should have been taken off that way i wouldnt have done that at all i loosen with a wrench a half turn reverse of the way they are put on. THen i go the rest of the way the next time around. My freind was just trying to help me out and didnt realize what it would hurt hed done it on v8s many times to save time.
