Default General Engine Rebuild

Here's a question for you guys. I am about to rebuild an 88 nissan sentra engine (who knows exactly which one...not me, that's for sure). I've never done this before, but it seems pretty straightforward. Disassemble, get block and head and crank machined, get new seals and bearings, reassemble using new parts where necessary...I'm sure there are some minor details that are going to vary from say a big block chevy or my h23, but all in all, engine rebuilds are the same, yes?

The basic idea is the same, yes. What you need to know from engine to engine are clearances, torque specs, ring gap, etc. etc. etc.
