Default gear grinding in first gear?

when i downshift from 2nd gear to 1st my tranny grinds. If I do a heel to toe downshift to match my revs its fine. I just cant shift into first sometimes when Im going over 15 mph. Is my clutch goin out or what?

Honda trannies aren't designed to downshift into first at a speed above 15mph.

Thats funny, when I got my car 4 years ago I could downshift into first at about 40mph. It just seems like the clutch isnt releasing all the way. The problem just seems to be getting worse and worse. I'd imagine after 150,000 miles on the original clutch it's about due for a change.

there is a maximum allowable up/down shifting for trannies but if you do it all the time, it will shorten the life of the related components...
