Fuel and Spark...BUT does NOT start!!!
Hello, i need some help with a friends car.
Its a 95 integra LS auto, it has Fuel and has some spark. The spark looks small but maybe only compared to my car. The car is stock. All fuses are good. BRAND NEW DIST. so i dont think its the coil or ignitor not being able to spark enough.
It originally died, while moving. So i dont think its the main relay (?) since it was running before it choked and died. Timing looks good also...ANY HELP?!?!?

You say it has fuel... Do you mean the fuel pump is running, did you measure fuel pressure? Maybe there's fuel in the rail but the injectors aren't firing??
You said it was a new Distributor? Take it out and and spin the fork on the DIS and put it back in. It's prolly 180 degrees off. It hapened to me and I was pissed for like 2 hours and then I just back tracked all my steps and fixed it.
yea, check the distr. was the first thing i did. I thought it was 180 degrees off too. Wires are good....LS firing order is the same as GSR right?
The fuel pump is working but i dont know if there is fuel pressure. im pretty sure there is because the spark plugs are soaked after all the cranking..so fuel is going in the cynlinders..
thanks for all the help

The distributor has a blade that's off-center. It's possible to force it in backwards, but it's not real easy. (Unless your favorite tool is a BFH...)
Did you get the new distributor AFTER it died? Maybe the original problem was a bad coil or ignitor. Now with a new distributor/ignitor/coil, it doesn't start because the plugs are fouled from before?? I once had plugs that still didn't fire after I fixed the original problem & dried the plugs out. With NEW plugs it started right up.
Since the plugs get wet, you must have pressure & the injectors must be firing. That means the CKP, CYP, & TDC sensors down in the distributor must be OK.
If the FPR has ruptured, your fuel pressure might be way too high. Pull off the vacuum hose from the FPR - shouldn't be any gasoline in that.

I'll tell you what I did when I was in the same situation as you...I got pissed. I showed the engine to like 10 different people including professional mechanics and no one could tell me what was wrong (in fact the mechanic was the most wrong). I just pulled the engine yesterday and I'll put a new one in.
Good luck man.

lol, damn the stories are stressful...but my friend actually bought a new dist. and then i told him to return it for another, I dont think the store will sell two bad distr. to us, there is a little spark.
Timing is good too...TDC with the white dot on the crank right? Doesnt look like its off a tooth or anything but belt looks old...

I was just in a similar situation, I'll just tell the story. Car died while running. Cranked fine, no start. I tried to crank it a bunch of times, all with the same result. I could hear the fuel pump priming, so I didnt think it was that along with fuel on the spark plugs. There was no spark, so we replaced the ignition coil in the distributor. Now we have spark, but it's still not starting. Hmmm, timing belt snapped too (what are the odds?). Put on a new one and it's still not starting. Come to find out it was 1 tooth off (the cam gears "up" had to be tilted a little towards the front) causing it wouldnt start. Also, the engine must have flooded from all the cranking so we took out the spark plugs, unplugged the injectors and cranked and let some of the gas shoot out. She eventually fired up and ran pretty good, I got lucky no valves or pistons destroyed each other.
i will try a compression check, i bet its bad cause it does have about 160K but i doubt this cause the motor to died out while it was moving... thx people...any more experiences?
