Default free play in clutch

i just bought a new clutch masters clutch and flywheel, it was working fine up to 640 miles then a block from my house i shifted to 2nd gear and it engaged but the pedel was on the floor i made it home that night; then the next day i looked at it, the clutch lever had a about 1 inch of play i took the clutch out and it looked ok nothing was wrong there is a space between the pressure plate and the throw out bearing i dont remember that much space so i looke in my hanes manual and it said no more the 3/16 of an inch, that seems to be making the problem but i dont know what goes there if anything so what is wrong, thanks for the help

Check for leaks near/around master and slave cylinders. Use manuel to locate. It's sounds like all you need is to bleed the clutch of fluid. But since it did happen long after, I suspect a crack in line that allowed oxygen in.
