Default extra cat bad for MPG?

I have a d16y7 (where the cat is attached to the header) I could not afford to get a new header with that cat on it and my buddy just gave me his smog d16y7 exhaust pipe (he added an extra cat on the pipe) I feel a little power loss but I wanted to know if this would affect my gas mileage at all?
