Default b16a timing w/heat issues

ok so i have had my crx running with b16a swap...have dc sport header, skunk 2 intake manifold w/aem hybrind intake...aem fuel an high flow fuel pump..stock injectors tho...also have pr3 ecu...

anyway i had the timing set w/the distrubutor immediately in the middle...felt just fine driving around...got 30-33mpg w/o o2 sensors but ran hotter than most ovens can go...i tried retarding the timing all the way but my car felt sluggish...so i advanced it all the way...now my car runs nice an cool, the economy is still 30-33mpg an it feels ALOT faster...6mph difference in quater...was doin 85-86 at end now doin 91 (do not have timer but have quarter measured in my neighborhood)...can anyone tell me which way should it be set? or am i just being to much of a noob lol!
