Default cat question

ok am goin to change up my exhaust system, got a dc sports header and a 5zigen catback now i wanted to put in a cat. i have a flowmaster cat 2.5" in/out

someone told me if i put in a cat my car would get a deeper tone and be quiter that if i put a test pipe and we dont have emissions where i live.

so my question is, wat does the cat do, wat are the advantages/disadvantages and will it decrease hp any? and any other input you think would i would need to know

thanks

w/out a cat, it will be louder, and raspier. with a cat is will quiet it down. honestly, the cat really doesnt effect flow that much, and i would be suppriesd if you loose a noticable amount of power with a cat.
they are pretty much just for emissions, and help clean up the crap coming out of your engine.
i would put it in, just my 0.2 but i hate 90% of hondas with out cats.

just use your flowmaster cat. it's high flow so it will be just as good as a test pipe and yes it will keep some of that crappy rasp sound away.
