Engine swaps, Do it your self, or let someone else do it ??
We did the swap ourselves and it took about 2 days, roughly 9 hours total. If you have the tools and the knowledge do it yourselves, otherwise pay someone "qualified" to do it for you.
if you've got tools and a spare car, DIY
if something's messed up, I'd much rather it be my fault than some other moron

I would have to agree with those guys...just make sure that when you go to do the swap you have all the parts you need. It really sucks to wait a week for some stupid *** part...trust me.
Either use an engine lift or get the car high enough to drop it out the bottom.
If you try to drop it out the bottom, you will probably need a car lift to do this...

Nothing but pros for a GSR in an EG or EK. I really love my swap.
DIY. You will learn so much about your car in the process that you will realize how little most "professionals" know. For fun now i like to go to the local Honda dealerships and mess with the guys at the parts counters (JK)
Seriously though. Its really easy if you have the tools, the necessary parts and the correct information. Invest in the Helms shop manuals for BOTH cars. Yeah they are a little expensive but they are worth every penny IMHO.

how much are basic tools needed going to run? I have all the everyday stuff, but no spring pullers or, what is necessary to re-build or re-manafacture the engine? I belive many of the parts could be carried over the engine has almost 150,000 mi. I havent had a compression check ever, almost scared to do it now.
You can rent an engine hoist. Obviously a good set of sockets and all the basic tools are a given. The only stuff I would add is a set of spring compressors, snap ring pliers, some really big *** breaker bars, a good high lift floor jack and a transmission jack. All of the above items have come in really handy for me. Expect to spend about $300 (a worth while investment)
Also, a decent air compressor is very usefull becuase air tools are much less expensive than electric power tools (and usually better). I have seen good compressors for as little as $160 at Harbor Freight.
PS. Dont bother with an electric impact wrench. It isn't worth it.
PPS. Once the bug bites you, you will quickly realize the following things:
You will never know enough, You will never have enough $$$, you will never have enough tools, and projects never really end (they just morph into other projects)

Definitely do it yourself. You'll learn new words as its coming together, but on the other hand all you're hard work will pay off when its done, because you'll know EVERYTHING about what you've done to it, and you'll know what to look for when/if something breaks. Nice thing about Honda. Damn things almost never break in stock form.
You don't really need any specialized tools, just some sockets, some wrenches, a hoist... that's pretty much it. Air tools are a luxury, not a necessity
. I did my swap using only hand tools.
