so me and my brother are building our first engine together. i would like to know what's the best way to prime the engine on startup. we are using good amounts of assembly lube, but i know this just wont cut it on the first start.

 

since the oil pump is driven directly off the crank, disconnect the distrubutor, and crank the starter until oil pressure builds up. shouldn't take more than a few seconnd

why not just pull the ecu fuse?

Be sure there is oil psi(and dont forget to put oil in it )

 

hahaha...ive seen a guy forget to put oil in a 4.6l mustang he packed his things up that day...lol

 

if you dont have a oilpressure guage take the valve cover off and turn it over until you see oil fly out. sometimes the get airlocked u may take out the allenplug and pour some oil in there
