Default Engine knock

i just got back from the races and saw that my oil light just turned on (watching speedo and it came on) so i immediatly turn of my car take it home (tow) and check dipstick ... no oil dont know how just did oil change a wk ago and never had a big oil consumption problem so now i add the oil and start it oil light is gone but there is a knock you think i spun a bearing? any suggestions im in the process of pulling out the motor i figure i will just rebuild the bottom end now since im asking so much from it any ideas? bearings or what? anyone?

Probably a spun bearing due to lack of oil.

so what do i need to do to repair that replace bearings anything else?

ttt does the crank need to be turned or anything like that is what i mean or just replace the bearing?

Its hard to say without tearing it apart. If its just slight, you can probably micropolish it out. But if its knocking, you either need a new crank and rod(s) or turn the crank and new rod(s)

I don't think you can re-start an engine after spun bearing depending on severity i guess. And if you did you would know.

make sure your crank is good to go..polished if your not sure then make sure you got the correct bearings and make sure you have them proffesionally installed..good luck

crank is getting polished and when i pick up the rods i will have them size the bearings for me but i plan to put it all back together motor is almost out the car started tonight will have it out in the morning

the crank has minor scratches on to of the journals for rods like i can feel with my nail but not rubing with my finger can those be polished out they look sorta burnt

is that damage repairable and if not will a ls crank clear all my stock main cap and crank girdle?

I cant really tell by the pics, but if you say you feel imperfections with your nails then get it micropolished, check tolerances.

I was about to say that from looking at those journals I would have it polished. I dint think turned. Be careful about turning it...you migvht not be able to get thick enough bearings

they are sizing the bearings so im sure they will see whether or not it can be turned within bearing spec
