Engine built, expiry date question?!?!
hi guys,
I am looking to recieve my built h22 (Darton sleeved, CP pistons, Crower rods) back by the end of the month. I am still yet to put the head on and sort out the plumbing for the turbo kit, basically I have alot of fiddly stuff to do between getting the engine back and actually putting it in the car.
My question is how long can I leave the engine between being built and being started? I have a friend who is saying it needs to go in straight away or else i'll risk damaging it?!? I thought this was bullshit and as long as I fill it with oil and crank it over by hand now and then I can leave it as long as I like just keep dust and dirt away from the ports. Basically he's getting me to rush fit it, I believe if I take my time and do things properly then i'll have a better sense of achievement and alot less problems down the line. Experienced engine builders please advise?
Thanks
