Default Engine bearings (mains and rods)

WTF!?! I call everwhere and no one has any of the main upper/lower and rod bearings for my B18C1 GSR! This sucks bigtime because I have everything ready to put my motor back together! I have called a few places and they give me this national back order crap and that it will take 4+ weeks to get the engine bearings in! Sucks bigtime!

This leads me to ask the next question.

Is there any other substitutes to Honda OEM's engine bearings?

I need my car running like last week and I can not wait another freakin month to have it up. It is my only car for transportation.

What do you guys think of Clevite bearings or any other third party/aftermarket manufacturer out there?

I need your advice bigtime!

Thanks a million

No, not Clevite. Use ACL bearings. They are a tri-metal bearing just like the Honda's. Every bit as good a bearing as Honda but they don't come in colors and .0002 variances. They are one size fit all but I have been using these bearings in all my race motors and never had a failure. I am in the process of setting myself up as a dealer with them.

I recommend against aftermarket bearings. If you had all the stuff you wouldve had bearings too. They're pretty important to be over looked at the last minute. I've hada motor that was rebuilt with aftermarket bearings and it lasted 1100 miles. Ive taken apart motors that werent blown and had aftermarket bearings and they dont typically look good. One size fits all is for clothes not engine bearings.

I agree with what you are saying except for the fact that they were not ACL bearings. They are made tri-metal like Honda. In the next day or so I will post tech info on them plus pix of rod and main bearings out of my 9.40 motor after 100 runs and dyno passes. They look new.

Aftermarket bearings are just fine....(ACL at least).. i know they are used in all my race motors ...along with my boyfriends .... i know many other race teams who use them as well....think about it who wants to pay $200 for a set of bearings....when u rebuild that much ??? i also used them on my daily which is still running ....(2 yrs now)

To answer your question ...on the thrust washer issue ...i dont see any reason you shouldnt be able to mix and match the oem one with the acl bearings ....it should be no problemo ...

He's right on. There some other garbage bullshit made in Israel out there that sucks ****.

ACL is IMO better than Honda. It just doesn't come in micro sizing.

ehh...use only Honda bearings...rs motorworks in cali uses only Honda pinks in all their motors, but I recommend using only the correct color coded Honda bearings. clevites have worked but ive also seen them not work.

I'm interested in the ACL bearings- however- I would recommend Honda bearings. It may be hard to beleive but I had a Z6 with a crank knock (with new original color bearings) that was fixed by stepping up to the next size (.0002") at Honda's request.
